For Immediate Release

"CHRONICLE OF AN UNQUIET AGE" LAUNCHES AS A LIVING HISTORICAL ARCHIVE                                                    "Where History Lives in Real Time"

Los Angeles, CA– July 27, 2026 — During America's 250th Anniversary Year, artist Cynthia Warden, known professionally as The Real Time Artist (TRTA), launches Chronicle of an Unquiet Agewww.chronicleofanunquietage.com an online historical archive documenting more than seven years of political, cultural, economic, and global events through original oil paintings created in real time. Capturing the zeitgeist of our time, each painting serves as both an original work of art and historical record.

What began as a single painting in January 2020 unexpectedly evolved into one of the most ambitious ongoing visual archives of contemporary history created by a single artist. Rather than recreating history years later with the benefit of hindsight, every painting is researched and completed while the events themselves are still unfolding.

Unlike traditional historical works, every canvas begins with research. Every two-week news cycle is carefully studied, and the political, global, economic, social, and popular culture stories that best capture the defining moments, cultural touchstones, and unexpected twists of an unquiet age are carefully selected for the canvas. The result is a growing archive preserving not only what happened, but what it felt like to live through one of the most extraordinary periods in modern history.

Throughout history there have been those who sought to document their time through art and words. One of Cynthia Warden's earliest inspirations came from King Alfred the Great, who in 899 AD commissioned artists and scribes to record the defining events of his campaign to unite England against the Danes. Chronicle of an Unquiet Age continues that tradition by documenting the defining events of our own time—in real time.

After seven years of painting history in real time, it feels especially fitting that the Chronicle of an Unquiet Age makes its public debut on July 4, 2026—America's 250th Birthday. Throughout the Archive, the American Flag and the Bald Eagle serve as recurring visual anchors—symbols of a nation whose story continues to unfold through every headline, every election, every triumph, every setback, and every unexpected turn. What began as a single painting in January 2020 has grown into a living historical archive. Displayed side by side today, the collection stretches beyond the length of a football field, creating a remarkable visual timeline of a nation—and a world—in transition.

Drawing on a background in Communications and more than two decades in public relations, Warden brings a trained eye for storytelling to every painting. History, symbolism, hidden imagery, political color cues, pop culture references, and a wicked sense of humor combine to create paintings that reward viewers who slow down, look closer, and discover something new with every visit. "I wasn't trying to create a historical archive. I simply felt compelled to paint the stories unfolding around me. One painting became another, and another and before I knew it, the Chronicle had become my life's work. I don't paint headlines. I paint snapshots in time” explains Warden.

In The News

Selected interviews, published features, and archival materials related to The Real Time Artist and the ongoing development of Chronicle of an Unquiet Age.

Since 2020, artist Cynthia Warden has created an uninterrupted series of real-time paintings documenting the political, cultural, and historical atmosphere of contemporary America.

Presented under the title Chronicle of an Unquiet Age, the archive preserves the events, tensions, contradictions, and public sentiment of a rapidly changing era as they unfold in real time.

Provenance

In September 2023, the diptych Divided We Stand—consisting of Legacy of Secrets and Truth Will Tell—was exhibited in the California Heritage Museum's "Anything Goes Exhibition" in Santa Monica, California. Created as companion works examining the parallel challenges facing both major presidential candidates during the 2024 election cycle, the paintings formed part of The Real Time Artist's ongoing Chronicle of an Unquiet Age archive.

Following the exhibition, the diptych was presented to President Donald J. Trump. The materials presented below—including exhibition photographs, museum documentation, inventory records, and related correspondence—establish the exhibition history and provenance of the works as part of the continuing archive.
