The Gathering captures another extraordinary period of political, social, and geopolitical upheaval, bringing together the people and stories competing for attention in August 2026. As we close out July world leaders gather to honor the memory of Statesman Lindsey Graham. Netanyahu, Zelenskyy and Trump are among many others who come together at the National Cathedral in DC on July 28th.
President Donald Trump slips away in a catering truck to another jet after the meeting in Turkey causing uproar from media after possible terror concerns. New Air Force One was sent to UK to be checked out. Press Secretary Karoline Levitt announces she is leaving her position as press secretary after the trip.
In response to Sophie Cunningham's stand on "No Men in Women's Sports", NBA former Stars Enes Freedom Cantor and Royce White announce they are "women" and declare for the WNBA draft according to the rules set forth by the WNBA. And the league is now forced to review "What a Woman is...Oh.. the irony...
Luigi Mangione pleads Guilty to killing Brian Thompson United Healthcare CEO in Manhattan Federal Court. His sentencing is scheduled for December 18, 2026. Todd Blanche is officially sworn in as Attorney General. The ongoing Democratic Party debate surrounding DSA and it's candidates, include controversy surrounding Abdul El-Sayed and Hasan Piker. El Sayad wins the Michigan Democratic Senate primary and is gathering momentum. His buddy Hasan PIker, the popular streamer in the DemcratParty proclaims
"America deserved 911," which begs the question "Why are we fighting Islamic Iran and then voting in people who support these ideas? The DSA is proving to be a dangerous idealogy as they advocate for "NO Borders, NO ICE, NO Police, and NO Senate." And riddle me this.. Why is a candidate running for Senate wanting to abolish the Senate?
It is announced ICE may equip ICE officers with gloves than can deliver an electric shock to protesters to help them with controlling the outbreaks of violence. The Gathering also captures the sad moment of the news cycle, including the fascination surrounding Jackie, the bald eagle from Big Bear CA ,who has become an internet sensation with her long time mate Shadow. Sadly on August 10th Jackie passed away after a short illness. Rest in Peace Jackie. And mate Shadow already has Kaydee a new female eagle visting the nest. The internet and their followers will surely keep and Eagle Eye on these two.
The Chronicle records these moments as they happen—not after the dust has settled, but while the story is still unfolding, contradictory, messy, consequential, and occasionally sad.
