The Gathering
Every painting in Chronicle of an Unquiet Age documents the defining events, people, and issues that shaped its moment in history. Created in real time as events unfolded, each work serves as both an original oil painting and a historical record, reflecting the belief that the news of today is the history of tomorrow.

TRTA-2026-150 | August 2026 | Oil on Canvas | 31" x 26"
The Gathering captures another extraordinary period of political, social, and geopolitical upheaval, bringing together the people and stories competing for attention in August 2026.
President Donald Trump remains at the center of national and international headlines as political battles, foreign policy, immigration, and domestic controversies continue to unfold. The painting includes Trump and other political figures, Air Force One, the Gathering, the ongoing Democratic Party debate surrounding DSA and its candidates, and controversy surrounding Abdul El-Sayed and Hasan Piker.
Anthony Fauci remains in the headlines as questions surrounding his record and congressional scrutiny continue. Other stories include immigration enforcement, political division, religious and ideological debates, and continuing tensions surrounding the Middle East.
Amid the seriousness, The Gathering also captures the lighter and stranger moments of the news cycle, including the fascination surrounding Jackie, the bald eagle, and the many stories that seem almost too unusual to be real.
The Chronicle records these moments as they happen—not after the dust has settled, but while the story is still unfolding, contradictory, messy, consequential, and occasionally downright absurd.
TRTA-2026-150 marks the 150th painting in the Chronicle of an Unquiet Age.
