Presidency in Peril

Every painting in Chronicle of an Unquiet Age documents the defining events, people, and issues that shaped its moment in history. Created in real time as events unfolded, each work serves as both an original oil painting and a historical record, reflecting the belief that the news of today is the history of tomorrow.

TRTA-2024-089 | February 2024 | Oil on Canvas | 32" x 26"

By February 2024, the year titled Time Has Come had already brought mounting pressure to the White House and growing concern over America’s direction. Questions surrounding age, memory, border policy, impeachment battles, and foreign affairs dominated national discussion. Presidency in Peril captures that atmosphere of instability and rising doubt. Calls are growing louder for Biden to be impeached as his cognative ability comes into question. Special Counsel Robert Hur releases his report and states "Biden willfully retained and shared highly classified information." In the deposition Biden did not remember when he was Vice President and did not remember when his son Beau died. It was decided by Biden's DOJ that "Biden was too unwell to account for his crimes." "If Biden is not fit to stand trial... is he fit to be President?" Mayorkas is impeached and the only other cabinet member impeached was in 1876. Tucker Carlson goes to Moscow and interviews Putin. The interview gets 150 million views in 24 hours. Former business partner of Hunter Biden, Tony Bobulinski is set to testify before Congress and he has receipts! DC Appeals Court rules Trump does not have immunity from prosecution setting a precedent for future presidents. Trump is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the Abraham Accords. Niki Haley is humiliated and loses to "None of these Candidates" in Nevada as Trump wins Neveda with 99% of the vote. Gang of illegals attack 2 NYC police officers and are released with No Bali and give America the double middle finger while walking out.  And on a very sad note Patriot and Country Super Star Toby Keith passes away at 62 years old. RIP.

Presidency in Peril speaks to a presidency facing challenges on multiple fronts at once. Rather than focusing on one event, it reflects a broader sense that leadership itself was being tested. The painting preserves a month when political confidence appeared increasingly fragile and the stakes of 2024 continued to grow.
