This work in The Next Chapter series honors the twentieth anniversary of September 11 while reflecting on the lasting impact of that tragedy in a changed America. Never Forget, connects remembrance, patriotism, sacrifice, and national unity with contemporary questions about security, leadership, and the country’s direction. But on this anniversary Joe Biden officially surrenders to the Taliban. In the withdrawal Biden also gives $85 Billion in weapons, helicopters, humvs, bio-metric technology and guns to the Taliban terrorists. Americans wonder if America could face another terror attack under the Biden Administration. Thirteen American soldiers were murdered at Abby Gate in Kabal. As the flag draped caskets arrive for the dignified transfer Biden was seen checking his watch numerous times to the disgust and anger of the Gold Star families. Nancy Pelosi is also featured as she blocks the reading of the names of the fallen at Abby Gate into the Congressional Record. Why? This composition a living tribute blending memory of the fallen with reflections on the two decades that followed. References to military service, resilience, and the meaning of national identity suggest how September 11th continued to shape public consciousness. In real time we see the work preserves the solemn and reflective atmosphere of September 2021 and records a moment when remembrance of the past stood beside renewed concern for America’s future.
