Lest We Repeat

Every painting in Chronicle of an Unquiet Age documents the defining events, people, and issues that shaped its moment in history. Created in real time as events unfolded, each work serves as both an original oil painting and a historical record, reflecting the belief that the news of today is the history of tomorrow.

" Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." September 2026 marked the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, bringing renewed attention to the attacks, the 2,977 people who were killed, the first responders and others who continue to suffer and die from illnesses connected to the aftermath, and the enduring consequences of that day. "Remembering isn't looking backward, the consequences are still happening." Lest We Repeat incorporates the work of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which marked 25 years of supporting first responders and military families, alongside the recurring reminders “Never Forget” and “Never Again.” " Never Forget is Not a slogan...it is an obligation.

The anniversary also brought renewed attention to the events and unresolved questions surrounding the September 11 era, including the 2012 Benghazi attack and the four Americans killed there.

Julian Assange warns about the erasure of history online calling it "The Undetectable Erasure of History."

As he explains it "By getting rid of paper files and replacing them with digital ones they can erase history, and one day you will encounter the message "Page Not Found." and the next day they could deny that it ever actually happened. And that is why these paintings in the Chronicle of an Unquiet Age are important. They are permanent record painted in real time.

Hasan Piker is being sued by Judicial Watch's Larry Klayman to the tune of $150 million calling Piker's comments "the equivilant of Fatwa." Piker continuously calls America "The absolute worst country on the face of the planet, Staight up bar none." "A Capitalist Shithole." I despise this Nation."

And this is who Democrats listen to?

September 10th remembers the first Anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, with quotes online including

"Never forget the difference one voice can make." "A voice silenced but not forgotten." Rest in peace Charlie.

"Well Done Good and Faithful Servant."

At the center of the work is the Statue of Liberty, and Trump with head bowed surrounded by reminders of what America has witnessed, endured and failed to resolve. The repeated words “Never Forget” and “Never Again” become more than memorial phrases; they pose a question. What does it mean to remember if the lessons of history are not carried forward?

Artificial intelligence appears as another emerging force, with questions about whether AI will help or ultimately threaten humanity.  Ai Doomers are beating the drums... why would the U.S. stop AI development when we know for certain China won't? AI Doomers are touting the "AI Apocalypse" and AI needs humans to survive and the question is AI innovating versus AI regulating.

During the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Ceremony Mayor Mamdani and AOC we caught laughing while the names of the dead were being read aloud... drawing widespread criticism by mourners nearby. And after signing the 9/11 Day of Remembrance Mamdani hands the pen to Jesiica Tisch NYPD Commissioner to give to

Ramzi Kassam who represented a convicted Al Qaeda detainee with ties to 911. " The men who attacked this city were terrorists. The men and women who ran into the towers to save innocent lives were heros."Jessica Tisch in her comments said "Twenty Five years cannot be allowed to blur that distiction."

At its heart, Lest We Repeat is about the responsibility to remember—not simply to preserve the past, but to understand its consequences and recognize the patterns that could lead us to repeat them.
