Days of Reckoning

Every painting in Chronicle of an Unquiet Age documents the defining events, people, and issues that shaped its moment in history. Created in real time as events unfolded, each work serves as both an original oil painting and a historical record, reflecting the belief that the news of today is the history of tomorrow.

TRTA-2024-098 | June 2024 | Oil on Canvas | 32" x 26"

Late June 2024 carried the sense that consequences long deferred were beginning to arrive. After months of investigations, campaign warfare, economic strain, and deep institutional distrust, several national debates were moving from rhetoric toward decision. Days of Reckoning reflects a period when accountability, judgment, and political consequence dominated the public mood. The Big Debate between Biden and trump is an eye opener for America. A Day of reckoning is defined as "A time when the consequences of a course of mistakes or misdeeds are felt or uncovered." Biden wanders off confused at the G7 in Italy and the Ny Post calls Biden the "Meander in Chief". Biden headbutts the Pope and all in real time creating very embarrassing moments for the U.S. Biden takes the debate stage with Trump and it does not go well. Americans are shocked to see the decline and lack of cognitive ability on full display. America has been lied to for 4 years regarding Biden's health and now we know how bad it really is. Robert Hur was right Biden is compromised. This was a reckoning for sure as Dems and Media turn on Biden calling for him to drop out immediately. "Cat's Outta the Bag" as media floods the airwaves with What the hell is going on. Reports emerge about a Parkinson Doctor visiting the White House 10 times since 2023 including just after the debate. Calls mount for him to resign now. Hunter and Jill are advising Biden on next steps. Will Hillary, Newsome or Kamala step up? In other news Julian Assange is finally free and back in Australia.

The Supremes rule in favor of Presidential Immunity and stops cases for Trump. Days of Reckoning suggests more than punishment or victory. It speaks to a historical moment when actions, narratives, and promises were being tested against reality. The painting preserves a month when many Americans believed the nation was entering a decisive stretch.
