Crises of Consequences
Every painting in Chronicle of an Unquiet Age documents the defining events, people, and issues that shaped its moment in history. Created in real time as events unfolded, each work serves as both an original oil painting and a historical record, reflecting the belief that the news of today is the history of tomorrow.

TRTA-2021-026 | February 2021 | Oil on Canvas | 34" x 26"
The opening work in The Next Chapter series captures the turbulent first weeks of the new administration and the immediate political, economic, and social consequences confronting America in February 2021. Created during first month of the new presidency, the painting reflects a nation divided by the aftermath of the 2020 election, institutional distrust, pandemic fatigue, and rising uncertainty about the road ahead.
Political figures Nancy Pelosi, Biden, Fauci and Trump are featured prominately as questions arise about Pelosi's involvement in January 6th. Biden stumbles through his Covid address and Trump wonders show many involved in the January 6th breach at the Capitol were Feds? Fauci is in the hot seat regarding Covid and funding "Gain of Function Research" in China. Debates begin over leadership, accountability, civil liberties, public policy, and America’s standing at home and abroad. The title suggests that campaign promises had quickly given way to real-world consequences.
The work preserves the charged emotional atmosphere of February 2021, when optimism, anger, fear, and suspicion collided across the national landscape. As a historical time capsule, it opens the 2021
Next Chapter by recording the tension of a country entering a new era while still haunted by unresolved conflict from the last. Yes, Elections have Consequences but also Actions have Consequences.
